Honda Collision Mitigation Braking System.

Honda Collision Mitigation Braking System.

Honda has developed, tested, and perfected many Honda technologies that has seriously impressed Honda Owners worldwide. At Castle Honda, we want to take a closer look at what the Collision Mitigation Braking System is and how exactly it works inside our Honda vehicles.

What is Honda's Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)?

CMBS is a radar-based self-directed emergency braking system found in the Honda Sensing Package. This system can assist when there is a possibility of your vehicle colliding with a vehicle or pedestrian detected in front of your Honda. It is designed to alert you when a potential collision is determined, as well as to reduce your vehicle speed to help minimize impact severity when a collision is unavoidable.

How does CMBS work?

The CMBS system has 3 alert stages. Depending on the circumstances or CMBS settings, all stages may not occur before initiating the last stage.

  • Stage 1 - Visual and audible warning.
  • Stage 2 - Visual and audible warning, 3 sharp tugs are given on the seat belt, and light brake application is applied.
  • Stage 3 - Visual and audible warning, CMBS tightens the front seat occupants' seatbelts, and strong brake application is applied.

What are the safety benefits of CMBS?

This system is designed to help prevent rear-end collisions with vehicles that are stationary or travelling in the same direction. While drive distraction or inattentiveness is a factor the system is aimed to alert the driver to an imminent rear-end collision.

The best way to fully experience this safety feature is to test drive a Honda model that comes equipped with it. Visit Castle Honda to take a drive in your favourite Honda model. Contact us with any questions or if you want more information on Honda Sensing Technologies.
